Election & Voting Information

Regular elections for electing the Mayor and members of City Council shall be by non-partisan ballot, and in accordance with the statutes of the State of West Virginia, and shall be held at the same time as County and State primary elections are held.   According to the Secretary of State’s website there will be a primary election on May 14, 2024 and a General election on November 5, 2024

St. Albans City Election Candidate Filing Period

Residents of St. Albans who are interested in becoming a candidate for City Council or Mayor in the City’s election to be held on May 14, 2024, may file their Statement of Candidacy at the Clerk’s Office, 1499 MacCorkle Avenue during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Monday thru Friday, between January 5, 2024 and January 23, 2024, or obtain a Statement of Candidacy from the Clerk’s Office and file it by postage paid mail postmarked no later than 12:00 midnight, January 23, 2024. Filing fee for Mayor is $150.00, City Council is $25.00. Terms of office will begin July 1, 2024.
