The St. Albans Police Department is now hiring Probationary Police Officers. Starting pay is $19.60 an hour, which increases to $20.55 an hour after completion of 1 year. Benefits include Medical, Vision, Dental & Life Insurance. Can earn up to 75% Lifetime Pension. Civil Service retirement with 20 years of service. Probationary Police Officers will work 12-hour shifts (15 working days a month). Yearly uniform allowance. Paid vacations, holidays, and sick time. Take home cruiser. The City of St. Albans will be conducting competitive examinations to hire and maintain a current list of applicants for the position of Probationary Police Officer. The qualifying physical fitness examination will be conducted on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Albans Police Station at 51 Sixth Avenue, in the City of St. Albans, West Virginia. The competitive written examination will be conducted on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hansford Center, 500 Washington Street, in the City of St. Albans, West Virginia.
Applications may be obtained at the City St. Albans Clerk’s Office, 1499 MacCorkle Avenue, and must be returned to the City Clerk’s Office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.
When an applicant submits an application, copies of the following items MUST be attached:
1) A valid driver’s license
2) High school diploma/G.E.D. or certified high school transcript
3) Birth Certificate (Must be a U.S. Citizen)
4) Military form DD214 (If applicable)
