The City of St. Albans is currently accepting nominations to fill a vacant seat on the St. Albans City Council representing Ward 1 (Precinct 317).
At the upcoming City Council Meeting on Monday, November 3, 2025, members of Council will make nominations to fill the Ward 1 vacancy. Residents who wish to be considered must meet the following eligibility requirements and follow the nomination process outlined below.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for nomination, an individual must:
- Be a qualified voter residing within Ward 1 (Precinct 317) of the City of St. Albans.
- Be nominated by a current member of City Council.
Each nomination must receive both a first and a second from Council members in order to be considered.
Selection Process
Following nominations on November 3, 2025, each nominee will receive an invitation from the City Recorder to attend the November 17, 2025 City Council Meeting.
At that meeting, each nominee will be given the opportunity to make a brief presentation to Council outlining their interest in serving and their vision for representing Ward 1 residents.
After presentations, City Council will conduct a roll-call vote for each nominee. The candidate receiving the majority of votes will be sworn in and seated as the Ward 1 Council Member during that same meeting.
