St. Albans, WV – September 12, 2024 – The City of St. Albans is excited to announce the grand opening of the St. Albans City Park Family Disc Golf Course on Saturday, September 21, 2024. This event will feature a PDGA-sanctioned C-tier singles tournament, providing an opportunity for disc golf enthusiasts of all levels to experience the new 9-hole, family-friendly course.
“This course is a great addition to our park and a fantastic way to promote outdoor activity in our community,” said Steven Koepsel, Tournament Director. “We’re looking forward to welcoming players from all over to celebrate this opening with us.”
Event Details:
- Date: Saturday, September 21, 2024
- Location: St. Albans City Park, St. Albans, WV
- Registration: Open online until September 21, 2024, at 8:00 PM EDT
Tournament Schedule:
- 7:30 AM – 8:00 AM: Check-in for the first 36 players
- 8:00 AM – 10:15 AM: Tee off for the first 36 players (all other divisions)
- 10:15 AM – 10:30 AM: Check-in for the second 36 players (MA4 and MA2)
- 10:30 AM: Tee off for the second 36 players
Player Divisions & Entry Fees: The tournament offers a variety of divisions, including Pro, Amateur, and Junior categories, with an entry fee of $20 per division. Non-PDGA members will incur an additional $5 fee.
Player Packages and Prizes:
- Participants will receive a player package that includes a choice of disc from nine different disc golf companies.
- Non-PDGA members will receive a Large Mini from Lone Star.
- Trophies will be awarded to all 1st place winners in each division.
- Closest to the Pin (CTP) prizes will be awarded on each hole during both rounds, totaling 18 prizes.
About the Course: The new 9-hole disc golf course at St. Albans City Park is designed to be accessible and enjoyable for players of all ages and skill levels. With its short layout and family-friendly atmosphere, the course aims to introduce more people to the sport of disc golf while providing a fun, outdoor activity for the community.
