Beginning Monday, September 8, 2025, Observatory Drive near the entrance to City Park will be closed through Friday for street repairs and waterline installation, weather permitting.
👉 Traffic Notice:
- All traffic to City Park must follow Highland Drive to Dry Ridge Road during work hours.
- The park gate will continue closing at dusk as usual.
During the recent installation of the new 12” waterline near the park entrance, crews encountered poor subgrade conditions, including buried trees beneath the existing concrete street. In order to continue with the waterline installation, the concrete street must be removed so unsuitable materials can be replaced.
Additional improvements will be completed during this time:
- Replacement of the deteriorating culvert crossing the street.
- Inspection and replacement of the sanitary sewer line, if needed.
- Reconstruction of the concrete street once all work is finished.
One lane of Observatory Drive will reopen at the end of each workday to allow local traffic only and emergency vehicles if needed overnight.
