Tornado Single Trax Trail System Opens, Bringing Economic Boost to St. Albans

The City of St. Albans is thrilled to share the exciting news of the grand opening of the Tornado Single Trax Trail System, a groundbreaking addition to our region’s recreational landscape. As the largest dirt bike and e-bike single track trail system east of the Mississippi River, this 30-mile trail promises to attract outdoor enthusiasts from across the nation, bringing significant economic benefits to St. Albans.

Located near Meadowood Park in Tornado, the trail was officially opened during a ceremony attended by Governor Jim Justice, members of the Kanawha County Commission, and other state and federal representatives. The Hatfield-McCoy Trail System, known for its impact on Southern West Virginia’s economy, has now expanded into Kanawha County with this new, state-of-the-art trail.

Mayor Scott James of St. Albans, although not present at the event, shared his enthusiasm for the trail’s potential to boost local business. “This trail system is a fantastic asset for our region, and it’s going to bring a lot of new visitors to St. Albans,” said Mayor James. “We’re looking forward to welcoming these visitors to our city’s shops, restaurants, and unique businesses.”

The Tornado Single Trax Trail System is specifically designed for dirt bikes and e-bikes, offering a unique experience through preserved forest paths that maintain the natural beauty of the area. Unlike other trails in the Hatfield-McCoy system, this one is solely dedicated to single-track biking, providing an immersive adventure for riders.

This project, which took two years to complete, was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Kanawha County Commission and the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System, with strong support from key figures including Senators Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito, Congresswoman Carol Miller, and Governor Jim Justice.

As the Tornado Single Trax Trail System begins to draw visitors from across the country, St. Albans stands ready to offer them a warm welcome. We invite everyone to explore the new trail and discover the many attractions that make our city special.
