St. Albans, WV — The City of St. Albans is excited to announce the upcoming candidate filing period for the 2024 Election. Residents who are interested in running for the positions of City Council or Mayor are invited to participate in this crucial democratic process.
Election Details:
The election is scheduled to take place on May 14, 2024. This is a significant opportunity for St. Albans residents to contribute to the governance of their city by stepping up as potential leaders.
Filing Period:
The candidate filing period will be open from January 5, 2024, to January 23, 2024. During this time, prospective candidates can submit their Statement of Candidacy at the Clerk’s Office, conveniently located at 1499 MacCorkle Avenue.
Multiple Filing Methods:
To accommodate different schedules, the City Clerk’s Office offers two methods of filing. Candidates can either file in person during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) from Monday to Friday, or they can obtain a Statement of Candidacy form from the Clerk’s Office and file it by postage-paid mail. The mailed submissions must be postmarked no later than 12:00 midnight on January 23, 2024.
Filing Fees:
For those interested in running for Mayor, the filing fee is $150.00. If you’re considering a City Council position, the filing fee is $25.00.
Start of Term:
Successfully elected candidates will officially commence their terms of office on July 1, 2024, allowing them to actively contribute to the progress and development of St. Albans.
