Mayor's State of the City Address

State of the City – January 2022

This is one of my favorite times of the year, the Christmas Season. The city of St. Albans is a very busy place with shoppers, people visiting our restaurants, and the Festival of Lights drawing those from other areas of the state and other states! Only in West Virginia put St. Albans as the third best city in WV to visit during the Christmas holiday! This is quite an honor, but I like being number one, so we will continue to strive for that distinction.

The holiday decorating contest is in full swing; both residential and business and the winners were announced on December 20th. The
The Christmas tree contest, at City National Bank, is in full swing and the winner is determined by which receives the most food donations. All of the food that is donated will go to Christ’s Kitchen and the food pantry located at St. Marks’s Episcopal Church.

This year’s Christmas Parade was possibly the biggest and best that St. Albans has had. Thank you to Patty Swango and the other volunteers for putting the parade together! Buzz Browning, down at WWSA Radio, said it was 1 hour and 15 minutes long!

We have begun using the Heads Up Community App to better communicate with the citizens of St. Albans. You can go to your App Store and download the App, free of charge to citizens, and start receiving alerts and announcements from the City of St. Albans. A great tool to get information out to our citizens!

I want to wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year! The best is yet to come!
