A Monthly Message from Mayor Scott James
SEPTEMBER 2021
School in Kanawha County has started—I personally think too soon—so please be cautious while driving during school hours. The Saint Albans City Pool has closed for the season and ended with their final event of the summer, Bark in the Park. There were approximately 40-50 dogs taking advantage of the pool that day. This has become a favorite for many of our citizens. The pool had another successful year, as it is considered one of—if not the cleanest—facilities in Kanawha County. Job well done by the Parks Crew, manager Mike Tank Scarbro, and all the lifeguards!
Businesses continue to open in SA. We have had several open in the last few months and several more have submitted plans to do so including the Goodwill Retail opening up in the old CVS building and a pet supply store opening in the old Aaron’s Rent to Own. The word is getting out that Saint Albans is a great place to visit, to open a business, and to live!
Thanks to all that make this community a great place!
Recycling has been expanded, as we are now taking paper and cardboard again as well as bi-metal and aluminum cans. As the market dictates, we will continue to expand what we take. City roads and sidewalks continue to improve, and we take our hats off to the Public Works guys that work hard every day to improve them!
We will be celebrating the 41st Anniversary of the Hansford Senior Center on August 27th beginning
at 11:00. If you are free that day, stop by and help us celebrate one of the best senior centers in WV!
