Mayor's State of the City Address

State of the City of St. Albans – October 2022

Fall is upon us with the chilly mornings and evenings and local high school and middle school football games happening on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays. A lot of events have been happening in St. Albans, WV.

st albans wv mountainer mainstreet august 27 2022 29

Mountaineer Main Street, put on by 100.9 The Mix radio, was a huge success, as were our first ever Heritage Days Festival and Car Show.  We had the WVU Mountaineer Mascot, Cheerleaders, Alumni Band, and Main Street Full of Food & Beverage Vendors to help usher in the 2022 WVU Mountaineer Football Season.

2022 St Albans Nitro Labor Day Fireworks
The fireworks show that St. Albans and Nitro put on was fantastic. The Dick Henderson Bridge was closed and had 2,000-3,000 people on it to watch the fireworks—with another 3,000-4,000 watching from Roadside Park and various parking lots along Route 60. A big thank-you to all involved in putting this together.

The Olde Main C Street plaza has been a big hit for our citizens and visitors. A big thank-you goes out to Chapman Technical for designing this. They created a beautiful and inviting spot for our community and visitors! Spread the word!

We are having a contest to name this new town square. Please send your ideas by October 10 by emailing your creative and unique name ideas to me or Deb Austin Brown at the St. Albans Chamber of Commerce: [email protected] or [email protected].

roadside park boat dock upgrade project 1

The DNR has started on the new dock at Roadside Park. The construction company is expanding the parking lot, and they will repaint the lines and extend the sidewalk down to the ramp area before the dock is built. It should be done by late December or early January. As you can tell, SA keeps moving forward!

Rails Train Days took place on September 24 and was a big success! The festival celebrates our historic town’s rich railroad history. Thank you to the Chamber of Commerce for putting on this event!

On October 8, The Fall Y’all Chili Cook-off will be taking place on Main Street, and on October 8, Morgan’s Kitchen Fall Festival will also be going on.

Next on the calendar will be our first Pub Crawl on the evening of October 22, sponsored by our Saint Albans Area Chamber of Commerce.  The Crawl-O-Ween Pub Crawl on Main Street is from 6 pm – 11 pm

Teamwork in St. Albans makes all of these great events possible!

Remember that St. Albans is WV’s Best Kept Secret, but the secret is getting out!

God Bless every one of you and St. Albans!
